Headdress 3d Fabrication


Approached by the Fowler Museum the studio was asked to process from a series of  scans a 3d model of a African Headdress with the goal of further understanding the construction techniques of its design.

One still image from the CT scans. This raw images were processed using various softwares and editing tools in order to mediate complexity and clarity of the underlying mask structure. Digital snapshot of 3d model produced from the processing of the scan layers. The full 3d model was exhibited as a companion to the exhibition. Image of the Joli Mask in the exhibition. The complex fabric layering and detail occludes the inner structure.
